IPL KKR vs Deccan Chargers a Preview

Kolkata Knight Riders ( KKR) will take on the highly spirited Deccan Chargers  in the lone IPL  Match to be played today. This match is very important for the KKR as they lost the opening match against Chennai Super kings; the match they should have easily won. Don’t know what happen to them that they failed to finish the match in style.
The two most costly players are in KKR but both failed badly in the first match. So Captain Gambhir will try not to repeat the mistakes and should open the innings for them so lead by example.
At the same time Yousuf Pathan should realize the importance of his wicket and should not attempt for silly runs to be a run out player.

This year Deccan Chargers are a complete new looks team with most unknown and not so famous names consisting the squad. The notable and some common names are Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra of the domestic circle.
Among the foreign players Kevin Pietersen, Cameron White, Kumar Sangakkara, JP Duminy, Dale Steyn are notable.
The match is very important from another prospective; KKR will play their first match at Kolkatta after dropping the local southpaw Saurav Ganguly. So it is to be seen how the crowd behave and how they accept the so long their favorite team KKR without Ganguly

Pune Warriors will host the King XI Punjab in IPL Twenty20

Pune Warriors will be looking to skipper Yuvraj Singh to lead the way when they make their IPL Twenty20 against Kings XI Punjab in Navi Mumbai Today. After stunning performance in World Cup, Yuvraj Singh is all set to lead Pune Warriors against Kings XI Punjab at the D Y Patil Stadium.

Pune are struggling in the bowlers with injuries to Ashish Nehra and Angelo Matthews but South African Wayne Parnell and West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor will be available for selection.Pune will hope he can bring that form to the IPL, and inspire a young side.

Kings XI will be looking to put behind the disappointment of previous IPL and begin with a win under new skipper Adam Gilchrist.Punjab may take a few matches to get their combination working, since some experimentation will have to be done in arriving at the best XI from a squad lacking big names who pick themselves.

Delhi Daredevils will host the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2011

Delhi Daredevils host Mumbai Indians at the Feroz Shah Kotla in the 2011 Indian Premier League season. Both the teams look very good in paper though Mumbai might feel a little weak in their bowling department after loosing Zaheer Khan. Delhi did not have a good time in the previous edition of the IPL and were expelled even before the semi-final, the first time that happened in the three years. The bowling attack will be tested as the team has taken a massive gamble in Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar.

Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils gave us the most explosive openers of the past going up against the most explosive of the present like Sehwag-Gambhir against the Tendulkar-Jayasuriya. Mumbai has the master himself who was the highest run getter in the previous IPL tournament. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Andrew Symonds and David Jacobs will add enough steam to the batting line up.

Both teams will look for a positive start as they look to make the play offs and challenge for their first IPL title.

IPL 20-20 New Format, a TRICKY

The IPL is getting bigger. But the real question is; is it getting better? We will the answer after 51 days of intense packed full cricket consisting of 74 matches. This year the format has caught everyone’s imagination.
The teams this year have been divided into two groups of 5 teams each. They will play 70 league matches plus 4 play off games.
Each team will play 14 league games. The other 4 team in its group twice – home and away as before; 4 of the 5 teams in the other group once – home or away, and the fifth team in the other group twice – home and away. The match will be decided by a random draw of lots.
The No 1 team at the end of the league will play No 2 in play off game A, which is effectively a semi final. Similarly the No. 3 side will play no.4 in play off game B which is the other semi final. The game A winner will automatically qualify for the final but the REAL TWIST is that the game B winner plays the game A loser to decide the second finalists.
Each of the eight franchises was allowed to retain four players each, three of whom could be Indians. If the franchise decides to retain 4 players then a sum of $4.5 million was deducted from their total purchasing power of $ 9 million.
So there is always hope against hope for the losers.

Highest Paid players

The Best Deal for this year IPL is supposed to have been the booking of in form dashing players of Indian national team Yousuf Pathan and Gautam Gambhir by Kolkata Knight Riders. These two players are the highest paid players of this years auction.

IPL IV Number of overseas players reduced

This time another change has been introduced in the IPL regarding the number of overseas player to play in each match. Previously it was 4 per match per team. But this season it was reduced to 3 per team per match. This change has been made to give domestic players more opportunity to play, so the back strength on the Indian team remains strong. How successfully it will work is something that time will tell only.

IPL Twenty20 Cricket 2011 Team Skippers

IPL Twenty20 Cricket 2011 Team Skippers

Mahendra Singh Dhoni - Chennai Super Kings

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, About this sound pronunciation (born July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar) (now in Jharkhand) is an Indian cricketer and the current captain of the Indian national cricket team.

The Chennai Super Kings paid a whopping $1.5 million dollars for MS Dhoni at the player auctions in 2008 and have now retained him in the second round of auctions, a testament to his talent and usefulness as a cricketer. ‘Captain Cool’ to his myriad fans, MS Dhoni is a player for all seasons.

Dhoni is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. Dhoni is one of the number of wicket-keepers who have come through the ranks of junior and India A cricket teams to represent the national team — Parthiv Patel, Ajay Ratra and Dinesh Karthik also followed this route. Dhoni, referred to as 'Mahi' by his friends, debuted in the Bihar cricket team during the 1998/99 cricket season and was selected to represent India-A for a tour to Kenya in 2004.

Kumar Sangakkara - Deccan Chargers

Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara (born 27 October 1977, Matale, Sri Lanka) is a Sri Lankan cricketer and captain of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. He is a left-handed top-order batsman. He used to play as a wicket-keeper and top-order batsman in all forms of the game, but has stopped doing so in Tests as his batting average is significantly higher in Tests when he plays as a pure batsman.

'Sanga' belongs to a rare breed of cricketers who are poised with both grace and flamboyance. His understanding of the game is unparallel and as captain of the Sri Lankan side he has proven that there is a great head on those shoulders.

Virender Sehwag - Delhi Daredevils

Virender Sehwag About this sound pronunciation (born 20 October 1978, in Delhi, India), affectionately known as Viru, the Nawab of Najafgarh, or the Zen master of modern cricket, is one of the leading batsmen in the Indian cricket team. Sehwag is an aggressive right-handed opening batsman and a part-time right-arm off-spin bowler.

By early 2009, Sehwag had reestablished himself as one of the best performing batsmen in ODI cricket. irender Sehwag returns to captaining the Delhi Daredevils in Season 4 of the IPL. The only player retained by the Delhi franchise, Sehwag has a simple attitude towards batting – see the ball and hit it.

Adam Gilchrist - Kings XI Punjab

Adam Craig Gilchrist AM (born 14 November 1971), nicknamed Gilly or Church,[2] is an Australian international cricketer who currently captains Kings XI Punjab and recently captained Middlesex. He is an attacking left-handed batsman and record-breaking wicket-keeper, who redefined the role for the Australian national team through his aggressive batting.

The former Australia stumper, Gilly, to his friends and fans, is the first superstar wicketkeeper. He has earned the reputation of being a “walker”, or one who owns up to a fatal batting error even when it escapes the umpire’s attention.

On July 2009, for a period of ten days he was the number one ranked batsman in ICC Test rankings.

Kolkata Knight Riders

As always this year too the most popular IPL team is that of Kolkata Knight Riders owned by Shah Rukh Khan. But in the last three editions the team has failed miserably finishing in low bottom.
So this year they omitted Sourav Ganguly the local Dada and made Gautam Gambhir the captain to change the fortune. But it is expected that huge public protest like it had already will again take place when they play in Kolkata for leaving and insulting Ganguly in the auction. their key player is Yousuf Pathan

IPL IV Tricky Rules

This year there are some Tricky rules in the IPL. Out of the 10 teams only those 4 teams qualified for the semi final the players will get the full auction/ bidding amount.
The players, mainly the foreign players will have a deduction in their total amount of the teams which fails to qualify for the last four. So indirectly a lot of money of the  franchise will be rolled back.

IPL Controversy

This year IPL is marked by many controversies.
To begin with firstly it was relating to get the franchise of Kochi by a group of business tycoon which had the influence of former Indian foreign Minister Sashi Thoroor along with the involvement of his wife Sunanda Pushkar regarding the percentage of stag holding in the team.
The comments made by the IPL commissioner Lalit Modi cost his post too and now nowhere in the BCCI.
This let to the scrutiny of the documents of all the franchises specially of the Rajasthan royals and Kings XI Punjab. If this was not enough it led to the raid of their respective offices and BCCI offices by the IT Department of India.
Even once it led to the cancellation of these two franchise. However the intervent of the court put it into stay.

IPL Non Stop entertainment Cricket

After the mega cricket event follows the exciting, thrilling, fast and non-stop cricket fiesta, DLF IPL SEASON IV, which will kick off on 8th of April 2011 at Chennai. The new attraction this time will be the inclusion of 2 new teams of Pune and Kochi.
The cricket fans especially from India will look forward to watch this fast thrilling tournament as India have won the ICC world Cup after 28years.
The broadcasting companies are expected to make huge profits with their world wide telecasts as other associate members of ICC will keenly follow this event.
This time the prize money for the champion team has been increased too.
Meanwhile key Indian Test and ODI players will take break from the initial phase of the IPL as they are too tired after the long World Cup event.
